Walter Merricks, Chief Ombudsman, Financial Ombudsman Service UK.

Overseas financial advisers have long needed a coordinating representative body, they and their customers have had no access to a dispute resulution facility. The intention of the Overseas Financial Trade Association and it's Ombudsman service to fill these gaps is to be greatly welcomed.

The Rt. Hon, The Lord Brittan of Spennithorne (Leon Brittan)

I think the creation of the Overseas Financial Trade Association is, if I may say so, extremely timely, as I am sure that with the current pressures on Overseas financial service providers, the Trade Association could be very helpful in protecting their interests.

The Rt. Hon, Christopher Patten European Commissioner
(former Governor of Hong Kong)

I can certainly see the advantages of having an appropriate trade association and the appointment of an effective ombudsman can only reinforce the credibility of the profession.

The Rt. Hon. Kenneth Clarke, QC, MP (former Chancellor of the Exchequer)

Regarding the creation of the Overseas Financial Trade Association, "It all looks very worthwile and I hope that it is successful and that the independent Ombudsman proves a useful new service to resolve disputes btween members of the Association and clients.

 Andy White, Chairman of (AILO)

The Assocition of International Life Offices (AILO) welcomes this initiative and
